Mika – Visual Storytelling for Cancer Support

We had the privilege of collaborating with Fosanis, the brilliant Berlin-based team behind Mika: a thoughtfully designed app that supports people through the challenging experience of a cancer diagnosis. Our role was to create a visual language that could communicate empathy, courage, and hope, all while maintaining a strong sense of humanity.

Working closely with the team, we developed a wide range of illustrations and graphic elements for the app. Some were joyful, showing strength and moments of connection. Others used playful visual metaphors to explore what’s happening inside the body. The goal was always the same: to offer comfort, clarity, and a sense of being understood.

What makes this project especially meaningful is knowing the impact Mika is having. The app’s approach has been validated in a randomized controlled clinical trial, showing real improvements in quality of life and reductions in distress for people living with cancer. It’s not every day your artwork becomes part of a clinical intervention, and that’s something we’re incredibly proud of.
